I am having Windows XP Service Pack 3 and I am having issues with the autoupdates. The last 2 or 3 days I got the notification in my taskbar that my auto update is turned off and asks me to go to control panel to tyrn it on. But it is turned on there.

I tried doing a manual update using the windows update page, but there once I select the express install, I get
Code:

The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem.
For self-help options:

    Frequently Asked Questions
    Find Solutions
    Windows Update Newsgroup

For assisted support options:

Microsoft Online Assisted Support (no-cost for Windows Update issues)

So I am not able to do any updates. I have Zonealarm firewall, AVG antivirus & spybot in my system.

Thanks for the help.

vjy,

Welcome!! Sorry for the delay in replying. It would help to know what version of Internet Explorer you are runing.

When you go to [u]Windows Update[/u/, what is the first response you get?

When you go to Start, Settings, Automatic Updates, what are your settings there.

Assuming you have disabled all protective software during auto-update?

Have you tried to download the updates and manually install them?

ummm - That's a good start - please lmk if oyu have tried these and results?

Regards,
Mongrel

I also have the same problem. When I go to windows update it would open the browser and says windows is trying to find latest updates. Then it will say that a new windows update agent needs to be installed. It goes to the same process as with what vjy says and in the end will will give the same error message as with vjy.

Yes, firewall and AV.

Have not tried this one yet as I do not know which update applies to the server. I want to try the windows update so I get to have a list of applicable updates buy it says that I need to install an updated windows update agent. When I try to update it, it gets the error.

I hope vjy also did the same.
