I have a modem installed:
Quote:

lspci -v
02:0b.0 Modem: PCTel Inc HSP MicroModem 56 (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [Generic])
Subsystem: Silicom Multimedia Systems Inc Unknown device 5089
Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 22
I/O ports at 1480
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 2
Kernel driver in use: serial

First I would like to know if anyone is familiar with this modem. Will this modem
work for sending faxes?
I need help in setting up:
I don't know if this modem is working. How do I find out if the drivers are installed,
or where to find them?
I read somewhere that I have to set the serial device, but am unsure of how to do
this and how to know which device the modem is attached to.
Anything else needed?

I would appreciate any help to get this working.

Thanks

hi,

I have some question before...

a) what distribution you use, please?

b) what software to connection you use?

c) what software to connect the fax you use?

I want to use a program from my computer: efax-gtk.
With this I can send faxes from the computer. I first need to
get the modem connected
Thanks

I don't use dial up or dsl. I use cable high speed internet. The phone is digital,
but not the internet.

I connected to the internet with netconfig. This is a program on Slackware for
internet connections, and I chose dhcp for connecting.

Thanks.
