Hello everyone,
when I purchased my computer it came with Norton anti-virus protection, a while back I was prompted to switch to McAfee which I did. After that I encountered computer problems that you folks here helped me resolve. Just prior to me coming here for assistance I removed the McAfee and redownloaded the Norton program but now it says it's expired...
Is there a free anti-virus program i can download ?

Be sure you uninstall all Norton or Symantec before installing a new antivirus.
To fully remove Norton AntiVirus or other Symantec related products, select the product you want to uninstall from this list in order to download the removal tool.
Please read the instructions first before you use it.
For older versions of Norton (2000, 2001, 2002), choose this link.
Also read the next article in case you're having problems with uninstalling Norton if above instructions didn't work, or noticed problems after uninstalling Norton: http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem.htm
Products from all three vendors received the Virus Bulletin's VB100% award and certification for virus detection from ICSA Labs.
Never install more than one antivirus scanner or firewall on your system! Several together can give you problems and decrease the reliability of it seriously!
i personally love avast because of the boot-time scan feature. that feature alone has saved me many hours of frustration at removing infections from machines.

All are good, but my choice is Avira Antivir. It too has the scan of the boot sector (as a defualt), as well an "expert" option to scan for rootkits before the scan.
