My office has a peer-to-peer, fixed ip network, which consists of 15 Windows computers (mostly XP), and one Mac G5 running OSX Panther.

My problem: the Mac keeps declaring itself to be the master browser on the network, and I don't want it to.

Does anyone know how to turn off the master browser feature on a Mac?

Thanks,
Kevin

you need to check your smb.conf file (/etc/smb.conf)

make sure you have:

Code:

domain master = no
local master = no
preferred master = no

under the [global] group

then just restart the machine. Hopefully one of the other machines on your network will win the election for new master browser.
